COMFORTING AND AROMATIC COFFEE.

Recipe with French press and spices.

Hello, coffee lovers! Today I bring you a special recipe for those cold winter days, a comforting cup, aromatic and quite simple preparation, you will find all the ingredients without problem in your cupboard and with a classic tool: the French press.  If you don’t have a French press yet or you want to change it, you can see our recommended ones right here.

Before diving into the recipe, let’s talk a little bit about the French press.  Also known as a plunger coffee maker, it is a method of brewing coffee by immersion. Combining coarse ground coffee and hot water, the French press allows the coffee to steep completely, extracting a full range of flavors before the mesh filter pushes down and separates the ground coffee from the liquid. The result is a robust, full-bodied coffee, with all the natural oils and body that other techniques often filter out.

Now, let's move on to our recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup (about 240 ml) water.

2 tablespoons (about 30 ml) of good-quality coffee beans

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

1 clove

1 pinch of nutmeg

Honey or brown sugar to taste

Whipped cream (optional)

Orange zest for garnish (optional)

Instructions.

Step 1: Heat the Water

Heat the water until just before boiling point, about 200°F (93°C). It is important not to boil the water, as water that is too hot can extract bitter flavors from the coffee.

Step 2: Prepare your French Press

While the water is heating, add the cinnamon, cloves, and pinch of nutmeg to the bottom of the French Press.

Step 3: Grind the Coffee Beans

Grind the coffee beans to a coarse texture, similar to kosher salt. A fine grind can pass through the filter and cause your coffee to have grounds.

Step 4: Combine the Ingredients

Add the ground coffee to the French press, over the spices. Then, pour in the hot water and make sure to submerge all the grinds in the water.

Step 5: Infusion Time

Place the lid on the French press with the plunger up and allow the coffee to infuse for 4 minutes. This time allows for a complete extraction of the coffee flavors and spices.

Step 6: Plunger Down

After the 4 minutes, press the plunger with even and gentle pressure all the way down, separating the grounds from the coffee now infused with the spices.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

Serve hot coffee in a mug. Sweeten with honey or brown sugar to taste. For a festive and even more comforting touch, you can add a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with orange zest.

And there you have it, a perfect cup of “French Press Winter Hug” that will warm your body and soul during the cold winter months. The combination of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg beautifully complements the rich, deep flavor of the coffee, creating a drink that is both uplifting and cozy. Enjoy and stay warm!
